KBIS 2024 Recap: A Showcase of Design Trends and Innovations

We spent last week in Las Vegas at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) where we were inspired and intrigued by the plethora of design trends, sustainable initiatives, and innovative collaborations. As specialists in retail design, we explored the exhibition floor, taking note of the latest developments shaping the industry. Let's delve into the highlights of KBIS 2024 below!

Design Trends: Bold colors, mixed textures, curves, and soft edges dominated the landscape at KBIS 2024. From vibrant hues to subtle gradients, exhibitors showcased an array of captivating color palettes designed to evoke emotion and make a statement. Mixed textures, combining materials such as wood, metal, and stone, added depth and visual interest. Moreover, the prevalence of curves and soft edges contributed to welcoming environments that are easy on the eyes, challenging traditional notions of angularity in design.

Noticeable Trends in the Kitchen and Bath Space for 2024:

  • Designing for pets - integration of pet stations into kitchen and bath design.

  • Customization - brands offering an increased array of colors and products that can be customized by the user, like the LG MoodUP Refrigerator with integrated Bluetooth speaker and color-changing RGB doors.

  • Aromatherapy and mist for spa-like bathing.

Sustainability Initiatives: A notable focus at KBIS 2024 was the industry's commitment to sustainability, with many exhibitors incorporating ocean plastics and recycled materials into their products and displays. Companies like Moen, Kohler, and Kraus led the charge, showcasing innovative solutions that minimize environmental impact without compromising on style or performance. By prioritizing sustainability, these brands are not only reducing their carbon footprint but also setting a precedent for eco-conscious design practices within the industry.

GE - Design District: Once again, the GE booth captivated attendees with its immersive Design District theme. Combining elements of artistry, technology, and functionality, the booth served as a hub of inspiration for designers and enthusiasts alike. From interactive displays to live demonstrations, GE showcased the future of kitchen and bath design, inviting visitors to envision the possibilities of innovative appliances and smart solutions.

Risk x Baldwin Collaboration: One of the standout collaborations at KBIS 2024 was between Risk and Baldwin, with proceeds benefiting Habitat for Humanity. Risk's vibrant imagery and signature street-art style elevated this historically traditional brand to new design heights. Through their collaborative efforts, Risk and Baldwin demonstrated how creativity and philanthropy can intersect.

KBIS 2024 was a testament to the energy and creativity within the kitchen and bath industry, showcasing the latest design trends, sustainable initiatives, and collaborative endeavors. As we reflect on the highlights of the show, we're inspired to continue helping our clients stay at the forefront of innovation and sustainability. With bold colors, mixed textures, and a commitment to making a difference, the future of retail display design is brighter than ever before.
