NeoCon 22: Privacy & Comfort in a Hybrid Environment

Since 1969, NeoCon has served as the world’s leading platform and most important event of the year for the commercial design industry. We saw the latest and greatest built environments firsthand at NeoCon 2022. Representing markets ranging from Workplace, Healthcare, Hospitality, Retail, Education, Public Space, and Government, the commercial design community converges each year at NeoCon to connect, learn, and do business.

Future of the Hybrid Workplace

Hybrid: a thing made by combining two different elements; a mixture

The focus this year was on the future of hybrid environments, specifically the workplace. The hybrid workplace model is a type of work environment that combines aspects of remote working and in-office working.

Today’s hybrid workplace is designed more like the neighborhoods where we live — filled with energy and life, but also spaces where people can find moments of quiet solitude.

At NeoCon, we noticed that a lot of the environments were focused on creating an office environment that features similar benefits to working from home with privacy and comfort taking the lead. Check out the photos below to see all the different versions of the "privacy pod." Some are completely soundproof, some are geared more toward the collaboration of groups.

Loud & Clear

Brands like Loftwall, Steelcase, Watson, and Zintra made a point to have their brand's message displayed around the showrooms along with key points that emphasize the reasons behind their hybrid design features. Scroll through the images below to read their messages focusing on privacy, safety, health, and sustainability!

THE WFH PJ'S KINDA COMFORT

NeoCon 22 was all about the comfortable work environment...making offices look more like gathering places and homes than the regular cubicle. People want the comfort of having multiple workspace areas and not being stagnantly glued in one place. Below, you will see some photos of my favorite "comfy environments," be sure to pay close attention to the last few photos. Looks like the good old office pet was not forgotten!
