Curves, Calm, and Clarity: Design Insights from ICFF 2025

This past weekend, our team took to the Big Apple to attend the International Contemporary Furniture Fair. From industry veterans to emerging designers, the floors of ICFF were flooded with show-stopping exhibits. Read on for the highlights that defined this year’s show.

Curves Are In: The Eye-Catching Power of Shape

The conference showcased bold, eye-catching design choices, and an element that stood out consistently was the use of curves. Breaking away from the inevitable presence of hard edges, organic curves provided an easy place for the eye to flow. Soft, rounded edges created an immediate sense of interest and movement. Not to mention, the free flowing shapes looked effortlessly luxurious.

Less Is More: Minimalism in Booth Design

Our team couldn’t help but notice that some of the most effective exhibits displayed fewer items but made a bigger impact. With such a bustling conference, booths that stuck to simple yet balanced design offered a peaceful environment to browse. One of the exhibitors that we felt executed this exceptionally was JOV, a handmade rug company, pictured below. While they brought an extensive amount of work samples, they chose to feature them on display platforms rather than deck out their booth head-to-toe. Two other exhibitors that we thought implemented this well are Molo and Miyazaki Chair Factory, also pictured below.

Grounded by Green: The Role of Nature in Design

With all the energy on the conference floor, greenery brought a much-needed sense of calm. From floral accents to immersive greenhouse environments, these natural touches made the booths feel more relaxed and inviting. What a great reminder that even in high-design spaces, nature has a way of making things feel more human.

Bonus Takeaway: Interaction Drives Engagement

As our team continues to travel to industry shows, we are constantly seeing brands lean into interactive elements. This can look as simple as a QR code or as complex as a tasting booth. We are continuing to learn that when people can do something, they remember both the experience and the brand behind it. Two exhibits we saw prioritizing this are Grohe’s water bar and Juniper’s coffee and charging lounge.

Leaving ICFF 2025, we’re feeling inspired by the creativity and innovation shaping the future of design. It’s exciting to see where the industry is headed and we are proud to play our part in it by making an impact at retail.
